Targeting Ireland’s Most Wanted
I’ve poured my expertise into creating specialized trips that focus on some truly remarkable fishing:
Tralee Bay: Close to both Tralee, Killarney and only a stones throw from Knock Airport is one of the most productive bays in Ireland. I’ll take you right to the waters and hard to reach areas of Tralee Bay, where you can experience targeting Stingray, Tope, Undulate ray, Painted ray (small eye) and Smoothhounds. I know these waters intimately and I’ll share my knowledge of the hot spots and the right techniques to maximize your chances of hooking one of these majestic creatures. Tralee Bay comes alive from March and each month brings its own challenges and fish to target. From March to May the main targets are the big female stingrays who come to Tralee bay to breed. These are hard fighting giants who get the heart pumping. As the year moves on there will be many more species including Tope and Smoothound who frequent the bay from June and the ever present Thornbacks, Undulates and Painted rays who can be caught throughout the year. This is an angling experience you wont soon forget.
Shannon Estuary: The Shannon Estuary is famous for its rugged shore and rough ground fishing and it only being a stones throw from both Limerick City and Shannon Airport makes it a great place for a day trip. The Estuary fishes best from May to October but can fish all year round for a number of species. The main targets in the Shannon are the infamous Thornback rays which are abundant throughout the coastline. The Shannon also hosts a great run for summer Tope which can be targeted in the lower reaches of the Shannon. I’m ready to guide you to the heart of the action. I’ll show you the best baits, rigs, and tactics I use to target these hard-fighting fish in this rich and diverse habitat.

Beyond stingrays tope and thornbacks, the West Coast of Ireland is teeming with a huge variety of species, making for a truly diverse and exciting fishing experience. On my guided shore fishing sessions, you’ll also have the chance to catch:
- Bass: I’ll be targeting these prized sport fish along the surf beaches and rocky headlands. I’ll use my local knowledge to put you in the best possible position for a catch.
- Flatfish : Perfect for beginners and experienced anglers alike, flatfish offer consistent action and are, of course, a tasty reward. I’ll show you my best methods for targeting them.
